Model code of conduct comes into effect; results will be known on December 18
Gujarat will go polls in two phases on December 9 and 14, and the result will be declared along with that Himachal Pradesh on December 18, according to the schedule announced by the Election Commision on Wednesday.
The Election to the Himachal Pradesh assembly, as announced earlier, will be on November 9.
With the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect immediately in Gujarat, where the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during two visits over the last fortnight, had launched the ferry service and several civil projects.
The High-pitched political battle for 182 assembly seats in Gujarat, where the Bhartiya Janata Party has been in power since 1998, is already in full swing.
Under the leadership of Mr. Modi in the state, the BJP won three consecurity elections in the 2002, 2007 and 2012.
